The Importance Of Coaching And An Organization - 1541 Words

Introduction My opinion prior to taking this course and subsequently researching my first assignment is that the purpose of coaching is to collaborate with an individual either in a one on one setting or group setting with someone who will guide you and hold you accountable for what you know within yourself is needed for one to grow and succeed both personally and professionally. From what I have experienced within my current organization, coaching was only extended to senior leaders within the organization, while mentoring was offered to employees who were selected via an application process. In recent years this has changed with the creation of several Business Resource Groups (BRGs) that started offering mentoring/coaching to†¦show more content†¦There is ongoing debate over the definition of coaching and mentoring. Not only does coaching differs from mentoring it also varies differently from managerial approaches. Several organizations have adopted the process of coaching and mentoring as development tools to develop those employees who are seeking future advancement. Also, they are setting the foundation for future leaders. The adaption of these developmental tools within an organization is providing employees with the necessary feedback and support to establish and plan their career. Coaching and mentoring provides an employee with the necessary leadership and management skills they would need to endeavor in order to climb the career ladder within an organization. These processes are both helping activities, employed either as distinct interventions or together as part of a package of personal development. Coaching and mentoring are deemed a highly effective way to help employees through talking, sense of direction and guidance, self-esteem, efficacy and accomplishment. Reflecting on coaching. Coaching is the developing of a person’s potential and capability to the highest level attainable within their environment (Flaherty, 2010). While there exists a myriad of approaches to the manner in which coaching ought to be carried out, there exists consensus on the primal duties of a coach

The Classroom Case Study Ad / Hd Twelfth Grade ...

Classroom Case Study: AD/HD Eleventh-Grade: Language Arts 1. Characteristics For my case study, I intend to research ADD and ADHD in eleventh-grade students in English and language arts classes. Normally eleventh-graders are around 16 and 17 years old. As most cases of AD/HD are diagnosed while children are young, most students in high school would have already known how to work with their disabilities for many years. However, they might still need help from their IEP team, which includes their teachers, family, counselor, and any other people the student wants to include. In both eleventh and twelfth grade, the state standards in reading advance to include more analysis. Attention Deficit Disorder, otherwise known as ADD, usually deals†¦show more content†¦Sometimes they may have a quick temper. Students who are impulsive often act without thinking. They can blurt out answers without being called on. They cannot wait for their turn in line. They often interrupt others. They sometimes intrude into other people’s conversations. There is also a combined disorder that features symptoms similar to both ADD and ADHD. Students can also be inattentive. They usually do not pay attention to detail. They often make careless mistakes. They have trouble staying focused. They appear not to listen when spoken to because their attention is focused elsewhere. They also have problems staying organized. 2. Academic Context According to the Arizona Department of Education, there are several standards that students in eleventh-grade are expected to be able to do. Students in eleventh-grade have to â€Å"cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text† (â€Å"9-12 English Language Arts,† 2013). This is important because it is a skill need in several standardized writing tests. It shows that the student can comprehend texts to their class group. They also have to â€Å"determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are

Renewable Sources Of Energy And Energy - 1983 Words

The world today is a place of rapid progress and scientific advancement, which has been going strong for the last few decades. This period will gradually begin to slow down and eventually stop altogether because the world will, quite literally, run out of fuel. Right now, the majority of all the energy used in the day-to-day lives and operations of the entire world population are nonrenewable. This energy is created from the fossil fuels: coal, petroleum and natural gas. Fossil fuels are still cheap and high in supply, but the rate at which we are consuming them, which is only expected to increase, vastly exceeds the rate at which they regenerate. This creates the aforementioned problem of mankind running out of the required natural resources to fuel its own energy demands. The only solution to this problem that is possible, is to begin placing more influence renewable sources of energy and doing so as soon as possible. Renewable energy sources include solar, wind, hydroelectric and geothermal power. Each of these are insignificant alone, but as a group they become a viable alternative to nonrenewable energy sources. Together, they have the potential to replace the fossil fuels as our primary provider of energy. Although there are many that argue against the use of renewable energy it is vital that the United States government makes the implementation and widespread use of renewable energy sources mandatory. Memories And The Formation Of Reality - 1688 Words

In film, flashbacks are interruptions that take the narrative back in time from the current point in the story. They are often used to provide background and context to recount current events of a narrative filling in crucial backstories. In its basic form, the flashback is introduced when a presented image dissolves to another image of the past, which can be either as â€Å"a story-being-told or a subjective memory.† (Turim, pg. 1) For example, dream sequences and memories are methods used to present flashbacks. They become visual representation to the audience as an act of remembering past experiences of reality. Imagination also plays an important role in shaping the mind and the story similar to memories and the formation of reality. Imagination is usually integrated into animation as an artistic creation to express the artists’ ideas or memory. But where does the use of imagination and memories stop? By examining memory represented in animation and film, through Ba rtlett’s theory of schema, we can see how the film develops an active organized method to recognize reality through memory. This paper is examining five films based on the theme of memory, thus arguing that imagination does not distorted memory in animation, but create a role as a form of embellishment for the film to help memory. Military And Mental Health Stigma - 2723 Words

Military Mental Health Stigma SOWK 636 Kari Brown University of Southern California Introduction There is concern about military service members receiving stigma about getting or needing treatment in the area of mental health. Stigma occurs when individuals view others negatively because they have been labeled or identified as having a deviant behavior against societal norms; deviant behaviors such as mental illnesses or diagnoses uncommon or harmful to others. Motivation Letter Fulbright Essay Example For Students

Motivation Letter Fulbright Essay My name is XYZ. I am 23 years old and have graduated from the Industrial Engineering Department of the AAA Institute of Technology (YYY). Spending four years of eminence academic period at YYY has given me so many experiences in many aspects which have built both of my hard and soft skills. I was actively involved in organisations like the student union (Industrial Engineering Student Union) and in the research laboratory community (Laboratory of Innovation and Organisational Design). During this time, a lot of my colleagues gave me feedback that I have profound qualities in leadership and interpersonal skills, as I have no difficulties getting along with new people and I am also frequently appointed as the person in charge when taking part in the organisation of events. The four years spent at the university also gave me competence and personal interest in the Industrial Engineering field. Thus, it drives me to learn more about the knowledge on a higher level, which is the master degree. When talking about the Industrial Engineering higher studies, there are certain specialisation topics that I am particularly interested in, which is the design management (innovation, design, engineering). I believe that the successful outcome of the study will result in the building of supportive thoughts in the development of better industries’ performance and sustainability. Speaking widely, the better industries even can later influence the better economy in a country. The way I see it, the issue of sustainability is now equally important when compared with current studies, particularly in Indonesia which emphasizes more on Industries’ optimal and efficient production process solely. Therefore, in Indonesia, it can be said that there are not many studies related that are able to be found today. Hopefully when I gain the knowledge I can share it through my best contribution to catalyst Indonesia as an emerging industrial country. When I finish taking the master degree on the mentioned field, I project myself to continue my studies on the doctoral level, so that I will have the opportunity to conduct further research into related topics, in addition I have also informally engaged in becoming an academia in YYY. I will develop the knowledge obtained in the institution under the Industrial Engineering Department and I also would like to arrange collaboration between academia and industries, particularly in Indonesia to improve their performance and sustainability. Being a lecturer would be an ideal position for me to contribute myself to the country as well as having the chance to share my knowledge to the next generations. I am fortunate to know that such topics turn out to be offered by some universities in the USA thus it motivates me to spend years of study there. The USA is also known to have vanguard studies in the field of Industrial Engineering and it has been referenced by many academic experts in Indonesia, including the lecturers at YYY. Moreover, I think no one would hesitate to enter into the US academic system. The other reason why I want to study in The USA is that spending years in the country can bridge a network among international students, which can give me the chance to keep a strong relationship with them, then later co-operate with each other and give contributions to our surroundings. Besides, I am also interested in learning more about American culture and promote the Indonesian culture as well. What motivates me to have all the plans is always having dreamed of being a global citizen who not only gives contributions to my own country but also to the bigger scope. To conclude, I have had enough time to obtain the basic and fundamental acadaemic knowledge and also arrange my life path plans after spending 23 years in Indonesia. Now having the chance to take the master study in The USA is wide open. Having strong motivation, vision and capability, makes me believe that I would be one of the right candidates to be chosen on the Aminef-Fulbright 2010 Program, then it would be the time for me to have the journey and make all of my dreams come true.
